How much do I have to pay for my membership ?

Toastmasters is a non profit organization. We collect a fee just enough to defray the cost of renting meeting venue, tea breaks, stationeries, and incidental costs relating to any toastmasters programs.

There are two parts to our fees:

  • International fees- New members pay a one time US$ new member fee which he receive in return a new member's kit. The new member's kit contains two manuals and a host of educational materials. Sub sequently , a member needs only US$ 4.50 permonth to maintain memebrship with Toastmaster International
  • Local fees- clubs collect a fee to pay for venue rental, tea breaks( or food) , stationeries, and some icidental costs. By Johor Bahru standards, clubs normally collect Malaysian Ringget 20 to 25 per meeting. We meets twice a month and as such a coolection of Malaysian Ringgit 40 to 50 should suffice. Some clubs meets in churches or venues provided free by Associations. They may collect a smaller fee.

We believe in paying for our own education. As such we do not go round collecting donations.

Who is teaching in Toastmasters ?

Toastmasters Club or program is not a college, trade school or other formal course in public speaking and leadership. There are no instructors, professors or classroom. No one is work -graded and no tests are administered. In Toastmasters , members learn by studying the manuals, practicing and helping one another. Learning takes place in a friendly and mutually supportive club environment. Club meetings are workshops where members study and practice leadership and communication skills with others who are there for the same reasons. Members learn by doing and by watching fellow club members.

So nobody is teaching in Toastmasters. We are here to learn from each other guided by proven methods and manuals provided by Toastmasters International.

The mission of every Toastmasters club is to provide an environment for members to learn speaking and leadership skills. The club’s primary purpose is to educate its own members, and most of club's efforts should be devoted to this purpose
